Jasper … A Walk in the Past

Take a step back in time and dis­cover the char­acters that helped shaped Jasper National Park & the mountain town of Jasper. This 1 1/​2 hour his­torical walking tour of town takes par­ti­cipants on a per­sonal journey into the past through a variety of stories about people, places and events that have made Jasper what it is today.

Program begins at the his­toric Parks Inform­ation Centre nightly at 7:30 pm from May to August. To ensure your spot on the tour, (group size is limited), pick up a free ticket at the Friends’ shop in the Park Inform­ation Centre.

Family Hikes

New this summer! This exciting envir­on­mental awareness program helps fam­ilies of all ages to gain an under­standing of the natural world through a variety of hands-on activ­ities and adven­tures in Jasper National Park.

We invite you to get out, get active & learn more about the out­doors.

Full Moon Hikes

Explore nature after dark with Friends of Jasper National Park. A volunteer guide will bring you to one of their favourite places in the park to enjoy the night sky and full moon. You’ll learn more about the stars, noc­turnal animals & things that go bump in the night while enjoying a moon­light hike.

Program dates for 2014 will be May 14th, June 13th, July 12th, August 10th, September 9th & October 8th. This program is available at a cost of $10 per person with a store voucher given in return at the com­pletion of the hike.

Early Bird-Birdwatching Hikes

Get out & enjoy some of Jasper’s best birding hab­itats with Friends of Jasper National Park volunteer. Whether you’re a beginning birder or looking to add a lifer to your list, our hikes our a great way to famil­i­arize yourself with the park, meet others who share your interests & see the birds that grace our forests each spring.

This free program begins Sunday mornings at 8:00 am (May & June) outside the Nature Calls building on Con­naught Drive (opposite the Parks Inform­ation Centre). Bring your bin­oculars & wear your hiking boots for this morning adventure.

Now & then, the Park needs a little help from its Friends. Meet new people & learn more about the Park while showing it that you care. Reg­u­larly scheduled trail res­tor­ation days will take place from June through September. If you miss those days, there are other volunteer oppor­tun­ities available throughout the year.

The Friends of Jasper National Park Gift Shop offers a unique selection of books, maps, gifts, souvenirs & Canadian-made jewelry. Pro­ceeds from the sales support the organization’s goals and 100% of dona­tions are used for pro­grams & pro­jects in Jasper National Park.
